Dimensions

The system isn’t really compact, as the speaker’s size is 11.6 x 3.4 x 5.2 inches (2.2 pounds). The subwoofer dimensions are 10 x 9 x 9.5 inches (4.2 pounds), so it’s hard to relate the Logitech Z523 speaker system to the bookshelf one, but the dimensional parameters allow placing all the components in a mid-sized room so that speakers can transmit sound in all directions.

Features

All three elements (subwoofer and two speakers) are driven by a 40W amplifier located in the subwoofer (sending 9.5W per channel to the speakers and 21W to the sub). The bass is deep and rich, as you can hear all the shades of sound. The high-frequency sound also is clear and doesn’t annoy. The midrange is rather weak, especially when listening to classical music. The Logitech speaker system Z523 with subwoofer has a Logitech 360-degree sound feature that allows the music to fill the whole room. It doesn’t come with the remote control, but a large LED-lit volume-control knob and the particular knob below make it easy to adjust the bass level. Pay special attention to the sound clearness on high volume. There is no interference or wheezing even after increasing the volume to 75%; the Logitech Z523 music sounds clear and precise. It’s better not to place any objects around the sub or speakers, as they can become hindrances for sound delivery.

Design

The subwoofer is made of wood and has a classic square construction. The Logitech speakers Z523 perform a decorative mission due to the original curved tapered shape and glossy front plastic (the fingerprints are easily left on it). The volume and bass controls are located on the right speaker. There’s a headphone jack (3.5mm) and RCA inputs, which allow you to additionally connect a tablet, player, DVD, etc. The left speaker is complemented with a 6.5ft cable and an RCA plug that can be easily connected to the subwoofer.

Conclusion

The Logitech Z523 review demonstrates that the specified system is a good choice for those who especially like to listen to bass music and tracks at high frequencies. It looks stylish and is able to spread the sound through the whole apartment, but it’s important to find the right location for it (because of dimensions and 360-degree sound feature).
