The Logitech multimedia speakers Z213 are the active wired devices with an integrated audio amplifier. They are made to create 2.1-channel acoustics. It means that the users can add 2 satellite speakers (left and right) and 1 sub to enhance overall sound and its loudness.
The Logitech Z213 speakers are almost tiny since each of them has 5.4 x 3.1 x 3.1 inches in size and a 1-pound weight. However, this is not the flaw since they are designed as a part of a computer setup but not of a room acoustic system. The subwoofer is also compact, having 7.2 x 5.1 x 7.8 inches in size and weighing 2.3 pounds.
The entry-level system produces 14W of peak and 7W of RMS power. It’s enough for watching, for example, music videos, savoring rich bass and loud, clear sound. Nevertheless, the power is too low to provide a good soundstage for playing computer games and watching movies. Besides, the bass is getting muddy at high volumes. This is particularly true for actions fully packed with sound effects.
In my Logitech Z213 review, I’d like to say a word about placement. As the sub produces relatively weak bass, it’s possible to install it on the table instead of the traditional floor placement. There is no need to worry about vibrations, even at max volume, because of the small sub’s size and low power. In fact, having a sub on the desk helps make the bass more immersive.
The Logitech Z213 setup is easy, thanks to a direct connection to the source through the 3.5mm auxiliary input and 3.5mm headphone jack. The adjustments are possible via the control pod. The optional Logitech’s Bluetooth adapter is compatible with the speakers to integrate Bluetooth to the system.
The system’s overall design is engineered to fit even the smallest workplaces. The separate control via pod makes the speakers look cleaner and more symmetrical. The black semi-gloss speakers have stands to be stable during the operation, and the sub with a matte black finish has plastic feet.
Each speaker has a 2-inch concave dome Logitech Z213 driver. The sub is made with one 4-inch down-firing dome driver that really helps in disseminating lows across the room. The driver doesn't have a protective grill. The power and volume buttons, the headphone jack are on the control pod. It’s also possible to calibrate bass based on the user’s acoustic preferences via the control button on the sub’s back.
The Logitech Z213 is a reasonable solution for those who need to enhance computer sound without overwhelming settings through the receiver. The affordable price makes the pack a catch for listeners that don’t want to spend too much on a speaker setup. Audiophiles and movie fans should consider more powerful acoustic systems.
