Logitech S120: Cheap but Quality 2-Channel Stereo
The Logitech S120 2.0 stereo speakers are designed to provide stereo sound while listening to music or watching videos on the computer. The entry-level wired system consists of the left and right active speakers. They can be connected to a PC, laptop, or mobile device based on Android and iOS. Are their construction and audio performance worth the money?
Dimensions
The Logitech s120 speakers are small and lightweight, saving space on the desk. In this way, they are suitable even for the smallest computer or study tables. Each unit is 12.28 inches high, 2.68 inches wide, and 2.52 inches deep, weighing 1 pound.
Features
The speakers have 4.4W of peak and 2.2W of continuous power. They are very loud for being so small, doing a good job at producing audio sounds from the computer, e.g. system sounds, music, YouTube, and other videos. They are too weak to enjoy movies or playing video games. The overall sound is clear, having no notable distortion. Moreover, these speakers seem resistant to radio frequency interference.
The Logitech s120 speakers are extremely simple to set. All the user needs is to plug the speakers into a wall socket. Then, the speakers take audio through a 3.5mm audio jack. However, there is no opportunity to make multiple connections since only 1 device can be hooked up to these speakers at a time.
Design
The black-colored Logitech speakers S120 are made of heavy plastic, having a matte black finish and a built-in stand. A single driver on the front panel has a non-removable protective grill. Each speaker has three rubber pads at the bottom to avoid sliding down the table. I’d like to warn the users that the speakers’ monolith design (while many other models are made of two parts joined by screws) requires their careful handling.
All the specifications and the marks, indicating whether the speaker is right or left, are on the back panel. The right speaker of the Logitech S120 speaker system has all the controls, meaning power, volume, and a secondary 3.5mm jack for headphones. Besides, there is an indicator on the right speaker’s front panel. It glows red when the system is on. Note that there is no separate button to switch them on or off. This function is a part of the volume control dial.
The pack comes with a thick 2-prong power cord and the cables to make connections to the source signal.
Conclusion
The Logitech S120 2.0 multimedia speakers just add more loudness and coloration to the sound. So, they are not for audiophiles or movie fans. The pack’s price, simplicity, and compact dimension makes it most suitable for casual users, college students, teens, or even children. Besides, the small size makes these speakers convenient for drivers to use them in the cars and enjoy music on the road.
